Mission Morocco

How it all began

Since the very beginning of No Borders TV our dream had always been to go to Morocco. It was one of those places where every traveller dreams to go sooner or later. So we started planning our trip for the end of 2017, but one thing bothered us. We didn’t want this to be just a touristic trip, we also wanted to participate with local villages and communities, so we started getting in touch with locals even before leaving Europe.

We left from Rome around the 15th of December and met with some friends in Barcelona. After a few days travelling south we had finally made it to Algecira’s port and in about one hour we had arrived in Morocco. We had to wait about 5 hours at the customs waiting for the police to check all of our vans and once they had finished we were ready to start our great adventure.

New friends, new adventures

The trip began with a group of three small vans, once we had arrived in the African continent we decided to go directly south to the warmth and joined the New Years Eve party, who knew that this would of been the start of many great friendships. At the party we met a group of young moroccans, we soon decided to take in each van a few of them. After a few days a group of three whom we had met at the party also decided to join us, one of them had with him his itinerant music show (Rody’s RoadShow). With his incredible energy and with the help of young Moroccans who got in touch with us we were able to participate in various festivals such as the Street Art Festival in Guelmim and the Cycle Expedition in Tafraout organized by Cycle et Company.

“Up a notch”

For the first time, at the Cycle Experience Festival, we managed to stay more days with the same children and families, this really helped to get to know them better and started to grow fond of them. It’s thanks to them and a very small box of colours that we came up with the idea for our next big project.

With the help of all of the people we met on the road, we managed to get involved in the Moroccans way of life. We never would of imagined that at the end of this trip we would have found it so difficult to leave these places and these people, the Moroccan attitude made us think: “If their vibes are so strong and powerful here, I wonder what it’s like if we would go even deeper into Africa”.

So we promised ourselves than in two years time we would come back to Morocco and drive even more south and as Rody says in our documentary try to “Take it up a notch”. And thats exacly what we managed to do. If you are curious to know more about our trip take a look at the photos and the documentary below this describtion.
